Zenthrus' Step by Step Painting Guide
Displacer Beast
Step Eight: Claws continued. I selected Delta Dreamcoat Sandstone as the next layer of highlight for the claws, teeth, and bony protrusions on the legs. I did not paint the tentacle feelers since I want a bright yellow finish there.
Step Nine: The nose and tongue. I selected Delta Dreamcoat Bridgeport Gray as the first highlight color for the nose, tongue, and bottom lip. The light gray adds a nice highlight to the charcoal.
NOTE: Shaky hands. It is imperative at this stage that you brace your hands while painting (unless you have surgeon-quality steadiness). The easiest method I've found is to hold the mini with my left hand by the base using my left thumb and index finger. I then butt my right palm against my left palm with the brush between my thumb and index finger. I will then rest my wrists on the edge of my drafting table. This keeps the mini very steady while painting details. From this stage forward one tiny mistake can lead to entire sections having to be completely repainted so be cautious.
