Tower Entrance

The Tower of London is MUCH better designed for defense than Windsor Castle. First you pass through a gate between these two immense towers. The entire fortress is surrounded by a moat and this is the only land passage in. Past this gate you cross a bailey to another massive gate. Beyond that gate is another killing yard. Each of the structures in the main courtyard are self-defensible with the White Tower as the primary bastion of defense.
